Parent and Child Workshops

Poppy Parent Workshops

During September and October all year groups took part in a number of poppy making workshops. We had many families and friends support the children who  had the opportunity to make a poppy for our Weeping Window display. Other arts and crafts activities took place during the workshops and this work will be used in our WW1 exhibition. We would like to thank our parents for attending the workshops.



Key Stage One parent's reading meeting

Thank you to all the parents who turned up on Wednesday 13th November to find out how we teach reading at Stirchley. Our parents were also shown examples of the year one phonics tests and ways in which they can support their children.

Reception Story Writing Workshop

On Thursday 21st March our Reception children invited their Mummies and Daddies into school to work with them. The children and parents were shown how to write the beginning of a story. It was wonderful to see how much the children enjoyed working with their parents. We received 100% positive feedback from our parents and we are so glad they enjoyed it.

Year One Design and Technology Workshop

On Wednesday 13th February the year 1 children invited a member of their family into school to take part in a creative workshop. The point of the workshop was to create a cuddly fish toy using different joining techniques such as sewing and gluing. The children and their parents had lots of different creative materials to choose from when making their fish, including sequins, glitter and beads. Both the children and their parents had a fantastic time and as you can see from the photos the fish they created were amazing!

Foundation Stage Creative Workshop

Wednesday 28th November 2012

Lots of family members came into school to help the children make colourful paper lanterns. The children used lots of important skills such as cutting, pencil control and critical thinking. The parents really enjoyed themselves too. Thank you to all who attended-a great success! 

Year Two Sewing Workshop

Wednesday 16th January 2013

Thank you to all of the parents and carers who attended Year Two's bookmark making workshop. The children practised their running stitch skills and produced some amazing bookmarks. It was great to see so many helpers, we even had to use the infant hall as there were so many of us! What a fantastic afternoon!

Year Two Creative Workshop

Wednesday 1st February 2012

Year Two were involved in a puppet making project and they asked parents to come along and help. It was lovely to see so many family members taking the time to come into school for the afternoon and support the children with their sewing skills. As you can see, Year Two had a fantastic time and had amazing results too!

Life Education Workshop

Thursday 26th January 2012

Year One and Three enjoyed a family learning workshop,delivered by Life Education Centres. Year One's workshop focussed on healthy eating and Year Three's was based around exercise. The children and their families had a lovely time!

Family Learning Workshop

On Wednesday 29th February 2012, some of our parents attended a Family Workshop session. Parents worked with their children to create a clay figure from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a part of their year four topic. Both the parents and children had an enjoyable time!
