We are very proud to have an I.C.T. suite in school. The suite is networked and connected to the internet. We believe that pupils will benefit from the rich source of information available on the World Wide Web.
The Internet has become part of our everyday lives and is now easier to access then ever before, but using the Internet can also have risks. Children and young people are more at risk of exposure to inappropriate or criminal behaviour if they are unaware of the dangers. Unlike books, it is difficult to monitor every single site. Birmingham LA has installed a safety device, known as the ‘Fire Wall’. This monitors sites for unsuitable materials.
At Stirchley Primary School we ensure that our children are very aware of the dangers whilst using the internet, through discussion in whole school assemblies and during our weekly discrete ICT sessions. It is also crucial that these safety measures are taken at home too.
