Stirchley Primary School follows Birmingham's Education Policy for admissions to Nursery and Reception classes.
Stirchley School can admit places on a part time basis 15hrs per week (all day Monday and Tuesday with Wednesday being to 12pm) into the nursery class each year. Places are offered to children who have reached their 3rd birthday by the 31st August prior to September admission using the agreed criteria for all Birmingham Nurseries. In addition, school will prioritise children using the following criteria:
children already having a brother/sister attending the school in the term of their expected admission;
distance from the school.
All nursery children are invited to visit the school with their parents during the preceding Summer Term. Pre-arranged home visits are made by staff during September. This enables you to discuss any problems or ask any questions in confidence with the nursery staff.
ADMISSION TO THE NURSERY DOES NOT GIVE A CHILD THE AUTOMATIC RIGHTS TO A PLACE IN THE SCHOOL’S RECEPTION CLASS.
Reception places must be applied for via the Local Authority school admissions website Birmingham.gov.uk - please contact Admissions and Appeals on 0121-303-1888 (Option 4).
Reception class places are offered to children for September following their 4th birthday. By law children start school at the beginning of the term after their fifth birthday.
Birmingham Education’s policy allows all children to have three full years at an infant school.
An Open Day is arranged each November / February to enable prospective Reception / Nursery children and their parents to visit the school.
All Reception children are invited to visit the school with their parents during the preceding Summer Term.
Your child will remain with us from the age of 4 years to 11 years. Their achievements are passed on from class to class, ensuring continuity of education throughout the school.
